Personal Statement
I started playing baseball when I was 5 years old, but I enjoy all athletic competition. I especially like team sports – rooting for your teammates and pushing each other to improve. For me, there is no better feeling than to help your team pull off a win or celebrate a teammate’s success.
I had a very successful sophomore year starting for the varsity team at William Mason High School in Mason, OH. As a pitcher, I led our league in wins with a record of 8-1 with 1 save and I made the 2nd Team All-Conference for both my pitching and hitting (.350 avg/.429 OBP). I gained a lot of confidence last year and learned some valuable lessons especially with respect to handling high-pressure situations.
I’ve worked hard in the classroom to achieve my academic goals. I also know that my participation in athletics has taught me a great deal about teamwork, the value of a strong work ethic, and overcoming adversity. I’m hoping to use academics and athletics at the collegiate level to continue to pursue my goals in life.
