My name is Jake Sossamon and I am a senior at Academic Magnet High School. In the beginning of the summer, I was working as hard as I could and had my fastball velocity up to mid-upper 80s and everything was going great. In the second tournament of the summer, I blew out my UCL and was forced to undergo Tommy John surgery. Dr. James Andrews did my surgery on 7/14/14 at the Andrews Institute in Florida.. As of right now (10/20/14), I am 13 weeks out of surgery, I have a full range of motion, have started weight training and will begin throwing in 2-3 weeks. Everything is going well and I am ahead of schedule according to my doctor and physical therapist. I fully plan on returning even stronger than I was before the injury. I have made it a person goal of mine to hit 90 mph before the next summer ends. I am confident I will attain that goal.
