Dear Coach,
My name is Lucas McCauley, and I am an 8th-grade student-athlete playing baseball for the Rawlings Southeast MAD Mavericks 14U team. I’m currently 5'11" and 150 pounds and growing, so every day I make nutrition and athletic training a priority to push my limits and continue getting stronger. I’m driven to put in the work needed to develop my skills and my leadership on the field and beyond.
Since I was eight, my grandfather—my baseball mentor and role model—has reminded me that real success is about staying humble in victory and being gracious in defeat, because both will come. This lesson has grounded me in understanding that my purpose is bigger than stats or titles. It’s about stewarding the gifts the Lord has given me: physically, academically, and spiritually. I don’t take these gifts lightly, and I’m committed to pushing myself to grow, to be a strong teammate, and to stay focused on my faith and values.
My coaches know me as a player who brings grit and determination to every practice, game, and training session. I’m not afraid to put in the hard work, listen to tough feedback, and grind through setbacks. I believe that true growth happens in the struggle, and I’m dedicated to giving my best effort every day to get better and earn my spot.
In the classroom, my 4.3 GPA reflects the same level of commitment I bring to the field. Academics are as important to me as sports, and I see both as opportunities to lead by example and to set high standards for myself and others. I’m passionate about encouraging my teammates, pushing myself beyond my comfort zone, and keeping my focus on continuous improvement.
I’m excited about the chance to contribute to a college baseball program and to keep challenging myself to grow in every aspect of my life. Thank you for considering me as a potential part of your team.
For His Glory,
Lucas McCauley #22
