Personal Statement

It has been my goal to play collegiate baseball since I was about 8 years old and I promise to bring a hard work ethic and dedication on and off the field to any program that feels I can contribute to the success of their team.  I work relentlessly throughout the week during the season and the off-season to improve all aspects of my baseball skills and just as dedicated to my academics.  I have had the good fortune to be coached and instructed on game fundamentals as well as being taught to respect and play the game the right way by tremendously talented and successful former college and professional baseball players over the past 8 years whom continue to mentor me.  I am a very athletic competitor with tremendous baseball instincts at all game situations from base running, defensive play and understands hitting situations.   I have been told one of my best attributes is that I am a great teammate and look forward to proving it at the next level.

  • Currently receive weekly pitching instructions from Dean Crow (former MLB pitcher and hitting with Seth Spivey current minor league prospect in Rangers organization. Previously and still occasional hitting instruction from Dustin Mejewski former TX Longh

  • Have maintained instructional pitching and hitting from Batter's Box organization instructors since the age of 8. Participate on weekly baseball practices in the Fall and Summer months for Batter's Box club team which is professionally organized and run by this great group of coaches.

  • After football I move right into HS off season training to prepare for spring baseball season with includes weight/strength and conditioning along with running and drills.

  • Overall Review Athletic body and fields ball properly and has good footwork.. very solid approach at the plate as a left handed hitter with good line drive swing. Pitching he is a drop and drive pitcher with a curveball with slight 11-7 tilt. will fill into body and become stronger. 2018 graduate you are ahead of schedule with bat control. What To Work On These will coincide with pitching and fielding and throwing. Loosen up wrist and throw and get over front side with lots of long toss. Let ball get into fingers and throw and go. This will help with outfield play and when on the mound to finish off your pitches. Hitting very balanced but get to the ball before you get through it with top hand attached through contact at all times. Leave head down. Pitching: good job with short mechanics and good vertical path but remember to get over that front side and finish. Think fast ball when throwing secondary pitches to not slow your arm down. Keep deception with fast arm and allow fingers to do the work. Drill Tips Pitching: lead with hip to plate with closed front side and barrel chest downward towards ground instead of being upright. loosen wrist and get ball in power position in fingers. Short box bullpens: 45 feet to get feel for grips and utilizing quick wrist action. Long toss: to partner or target get your crow hop and throw and go and do not remain stationary.. Evaluated By Joel Karakaedos Joel is a Scout with the New York Yankees. He has over 20 years in professional and college scouting and a career that boasts over 15 big leagues. Joel also acts as an MLB agent and college advisor and works with some of the best young prospects across baseball.
