The beauty of baseball is that it is a game of failure. Failing seven out ten times at the plate is considered successful. Game after game, season after season, there is always another chance to be successful. At a young age I found a love, and understanding for the game that hasn't changed to this day. What has changed is the importance of academics in my life. My goal for college is to graduate with a degree in either Aerospace or Petroleum engineering. I know that I will not get recruited to any college without scoring well academically. Freshman year was very eye-opening, due to the fact that I went into the year with high hopes of starting on a JV or Varsity team. I was starting, but on the sophomore team instead. This only taught me that in order to play at a higher level I would need to work harder and more obsessively. This also taught me that you can never stop working. Once you’re the best on your team, you have to work to be the best in your school. Once you’re the best in your school, you have to work to be the best in your district. Every recruit might pitch that they are the best at what they do, but what playing this game for 12 years has taught me is that you will never truly be the best at what you do, without the hard work and dedication that is required to play at the next level.
