My name is Lindsay McDermott. I grew up in Paramus, New Jersey with my 2 sisters, Mother, and Grandmother. I have been cheering since the second grade on my local rec team. I have adjusted to many different positions in cheerleading. Growing up in a household with a single mother, I learned to be extremely independent. As a result, I developed the skills to guide a team when leadership is needed. Cheerleading has always been a steady passion of mine, and an environment that I always wanted.
Being named varsity cheer captain as a junior, I was thrust into a position where I would have to set and uphold standards for not only the team, but for the future of the program. I quickly realized the girls looked to me for guidance and leadership in both practice, and at meets. Being able to communicate clearly, and be empathetic with the emotions each member of our team was experiencing, allowed me to successfully act as a leader en route to this year’s team domination. My goal in cheer is not only to exceed my own standard, but to set the standard for those around me. As I grow older and develop professionally, I hope to help those around me through hard times. I believe I possess the drive and the skills to be successful, and I look forward to a long, fulfilling future, in family law.
Thank you!
