2013 HighlightsMy name is Krista Hoffman and I am currently a sophomore at Shawnee High School in Medford, New Jersey. Since I was just a toddler I knew I wanted to pursue field hockey. As soon as 3rd grade hit, and a field hockey program was available for me to participate in, I jumped right into it. Ever since, one can find me with a field hockey stick in hand. Although, I also play lacrosse, I am devoted to field hockey and my aspirations include getting the opportunity to play field hockey at the collegiate level one day. Not only is field hockey a large part of my life, academics are as well. My grandfather was an Ivy-League graduate. Having him in my life when I was younger pushed me to grow up hoping to go to a very high academic school. I challenge myself to be the best I can be in school and on the field. I take challenging classes hoping to gain new and vital knowledge. I love to learn and I dream of playing field hockey at a college or a university where education is extremely important.
I have had many successes throughout my field hockey career. I was the captain of my winning team in 8th grade at Medford Memorial Middle School. Coming into Shawnee High School at 2012 was a big change because the program is so large. Shawnee is a Group 4 high school in New Jersey, which is the biggest group, school's with larger student populations. I pushed myself everyday and played on Varsity as a freshman. As a sophomore, I start Varsity and contribute to my teams many wins. Our program at Shawnee just reached the 700th win and I am so grateful to have helped make it happen, making the 700th win an 8-0 shutout. This year I am playing a defensive midfield position. I play for the club, Spirit of USA and will be playing at the National Festival in Palm Beach in November. My goal is to bring home a gold medal.
I am unlike most field hockey players and sophomore girls. I have an inner drive, competitiveness, and determination that push me to achieve my goals and be the best student-athlete I can be. I juggle school, field hockey, and numerous clubs helping me to be well-rounded. I always tell myself to always be at a level of 110% because how am I going to get better if I don't try my hardest? I take everyday as a new day to get better and I dream of being able to have the chance to play at a strong academic school one day.
