Personal Statement
I have been playing football since I was 8 years old in little league. From the first time I stepped on the field, I have aspired to play at the collegiate level. Through my years of playing not only football but also basketball, baseball, and track, I have gained insight that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. One of the most important lessons that I have learned is focus. Mistakes may happen but we can learn from them just as much as winning.
To succeed in school, sports, and life, we need to make certain sacrifices to realize our ambitions. Whether it is pushing a little harder in practice or putting in that extra hour of studying at the library, being a student-athlete has helped me learn how to prioritize my goals in order to achieve those that are most important to me. However, sometimes we can not accomplish everything on our own. As an athlete, I have learned that teamwork is a critical aspect of success. I am very competitive but I do understand that being a part of a team is just that. Everyone matters and everyone is equally important from the quarterback to the water-boy. Teammates are an invaluable source of support and friendship and, without them, we could never reach our goals.
I am a team leader and try to lead by example while encouraging and boosting the moral of my teammates. I consider myself very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working players for any team I am a part of.
Off the court, I study hard and maintain a 4.0 GPA. I have volunteered at local community services, helped to collect donations for Toys for Tots and the Salvation Army, and am currently a member of our student government, serving as Junior class President. I have a strong christian faith and an active member of my church along with the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes).
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and on the football field. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match for me at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to be a great student, role model to all peers, and make my family proud while achieving both academic and athletic success.
