Joel Sweat '19 Recruiting Profile

4-year Varsity Starter, 3-year Team Captain and Allstate Athlete, being competitive and striving to win have been part of my makeup since I was a small boy. That attitude translated to the classroom where I have always achieved A’s and B’s (3.5 GPA; 1110 SAT) and worked hard to be a leader as a point guard. I have the basketball knowledge and quickness, mentally and physically, to influence my team and affect the outcome of the game.

Being a leader on the court and in the classroom has always been important to me. As a student assistant to the mentally and physically challenged students from our school, who were participating in the local Special Olympics, I was able to share my love of sports and the joy of competition and winning with them. That experience enhanced my confidence to lead my team as a 3rd year starting point guard and focus on winning rather than my own stats. I will bring that same dedication to your team and work to be the best athlete, role model and leader I can be.
