Personal Statement
Dear coaches,
College hockey has been my ultimate goal since the age of 10 when I started playing the position of goalie. The first time I saw the sport of hockey was at the age of 7. It was a local college team that was starting a new season. Once I saw the players gliding across the ice at amazing speeds while still being able to move a puck, I was in awe. As I continued my hockey path, I realized I wanted to play at the highest level I could at that moment. I tried out for our local traveling team that was between AA and AAA. When I was at the rink, I liked to show up extra early so I could see our older guys play. Their work ethic, perseverance, and drive to get better really inspired me to become a better athlete and always put 110% out on the ice.
Playing high school hockey while going to one of the top academic schools in northern Colorado has really helped me with realizing how important academics are as well as time management. My work ethic in school and on the ice have helped me to become who I am today. What really sets me apart from other athletes is my drive to always get better and attention to detail. Whenever I’m on the ice, I always try to get better. When a goal is scored in practice, I either ask my coach what I could've done to fix it and make sure a goal isn't scored in the same situation at a different time or self reflect and make changes myself. I try to have a positive attitude in every situation and try to better teammates.
I take my academics very seriously and try very hard to receive the grades I have. With personal adversities occurring early in my high school career, it was hard to bounce my gpa back to where it is at currently. I'm still working hard in school so I can continue to raise my grade point average while also trying to better myself every time I touch the ice. My main goal with collegiate hockey is to play at the highest level possible and compete in a championship. College hockey is a really big dream of mine and something I really enjoy working for. I hope to leave a mark wherever I play and help lead the team to the best season they've had. I aspire to be the goalie younger people look up to and try to be like by working hard and being the best possible hockey player they can be.
