Feedback from coaches:
Lindsay Schartner, West Morris Mendham HS Varsity Coach: Nick had an enormous impact on the field with his sensible defending, simplicity in how he plays, and an excellent read on when to join the attack. Nick is a very technical player, has good agility, and can break down well. Nick is one of the best student-athletes I have coached. He is very coachable, has a tremendous work ethic, and doesn't let a mistake take him out of the game. He is an excellent teammate and is already demonstrating great leadership potential even as an under classmen. (His FC Delco highlight video) highlights so well how Nick plays a ball and then immediately moves to find a new angle of support for his teammates. It shows off his soccer IQ well. I can't wait to see his leadership on the defensive end next year and his skills and intelligence in the attack next year.
Coach McClintock (Drew University EXACT ID Clinic) Quality dribbling with ball at both feet. Good in tight spaces and makes good moves to beat defenders. Creates opportunities with accurate passes. Rarely over or under hits the ball. Field vision is very good. Constantly checking over shoulder on and off the ball allows for quick decisions. Highly active and involved in the attack. Gives good distance of support and passing angles for teammates. Maintains composure in pressure situations. Showed endurance that helped effectiveness, especially late
Richard Alpin (Cheshire Soccer Academy - Former Club Coach) Technical defending is Outstanding! Very technically gifted and able to hit a range of passes from short to long. Great with receiving both on the ground and aerially. Has great individual skills and is very difficult to dispossess. Positionally Nicholas is excellent. His ability to read the game is at a very high level and understands the tactics of the team.
Gleb Gershman (Red Bull RDS) Ability to manipulate the ball at speed and really unbalance the player was excellent. His ability to dribble the ball with both feet is excellent and allows Nicholas to keep control of the ball in spaces where some can’t. Great psychological discipline.
Ben Stuart (Steel United 2007 Elite A)
· Consistently performs dribbling, running with the ball, passing, receiving, turning, shooting, defending to a high standard. Executes technical skills at the correct time during practices and games.
· Very calm on the ball and never rushes to make a decision. Awareness of his teammates and opponents gives him multiple options every time he has the ball. He is so versatile as a player I can play him full back or CM when we need to gain a little control back in the middle of the field. He has the ability to move into midfield to be effective when needed and raises the level of his team mates with his play.
· Nicholas is one of if not the most consistent performer in the team. He consistently performs at a high level and sets the standard for the rest of the group. Nick is able to compete at a high level due to his fitness, speed and strength. Demonstrates advanced physical skills in comparison to athletes of similar age.
· Understands complex game principles of play within our game model.
· Nicholas' attitude makes him a joy to work with. His attitude is second to none. He is always listening to feedback and constantly trying to change and improve his game based on my feedback and the teams needs. There is never a practice or game where Nicholas is not giving 100%. Is a role model for our other athletes to follow, behavior is always reflective of our core values.
Timothy Zangara (6th-8th Coach) His first touch, passing range and ability to read the game at a high level, paired with his absolute commitment and hard work provide him with the tools to play in many positions: CB, RB, LB, CDM and CM. Nicholas has a calmness about him that radiates through his teammates in times of chaos. He is a natural leader on and off of the field.
