Personal Statement

My name is Ryan Adams and I currently play for the WNY Flash ECNL team. Previously I played for Empire United Soccer Academy on the U17 and Select (Pre-Academy) teams as a CDM/CAM. I also play for the NYSW Region 1 ODP team. I am currently the Captain of the Canisius High School Varsity team and as a sophomore; I was selected as the Captain of the Canisius JV team. I have also served as the Captain of my ODP team. I take the role of Captain seriously. I have gained experience on how to lead and take responsibility not only for myself, but for the team and I understand that I must be a good role model for my teammates.

For 3 years I attended personal soccer training from JCSA which fine-tuned my technical skills. One of my key strengths as a player is my field vision. I am able to see the play develop which in turn allows me to create opportunities for my team to advance. I am a good teammate and always look to improve and grow on and off the soccer field.

Academically I strive to be the best I can be and I am motivated to succeed in the challenging environment at Canisius. Canisius is truly a college preparatory school with a demanding curriculum and high expectations. I am learning the skills required to be successful in college while balancing the training and travel demands of my soccer teams, my commitment as a musician and taking part in community service.

Soccer is part of who I am and I hope to have the opportunity to continue to play the game I love in College.
