Personal Statement
When I moved to Oklahoma in 2012, I took some time off of soccer and began training in Tae Kwon Do. During that time, I received a WTF certified, first-degree black belt and won the Oklahoma State Championship in the Light-Middleweight Division. I was very devoted to my training and focused most, if not all, of my time on it. But even though I enjoyed my time in martial arts, I always felt like soccer was truly where my passion lied. However, with the martial arts training I’ve experienced, I have been able to not only apply it to soccer, but also in the development of my character. Through my training over the years, I noticed a shift in my life. I became much more disciplined and driven to succeed. I also noticed a change academically. I became a much better student and have since been inducted into the Oklahoma and National Honors Society.
I have been able to use the training and discipline from Tae Kwon Do to help further improve my game as well as render me capable of playing soccer at the collegiate level. I am looking for a good program to help me improve both as an athlete and a student. I believe wholeheartedly, that I am able to compete with and against the very best that collegiate soccer has to offer. My strong work ethic, passion for the game, and leadership ability can make me a good fit for your program.
