Personal Statement
I have played soccer since I was 7 years old. For as long as I remember, my dad would take me Saturday mornings to play pickup soccer with people from different parts of the world who grew up playing soccer. Almost everyone was older and better than me but that taught me to face challenges, play harder and improve my game. I learned that to work together to achieve a goal in soccer, you have to learn and understand your teammates and how they play. In high school and the club teams that I played in, everyone had different playing styles that I had to adjust to and play as a team to reach a common goal of winning games. I believe that playing soccer at a very young age prepared me well to play and adjust to different styles of play and situations.
Playing soccer around different people with different soccer backgrounds helped me grow in my game and develop my understanding of the game. It also helped me understand and work with people on and off the field. Soccer has not only has helped me on and off the field, but in the classroom as well to be a good student. It has helped me become a better leader and improved my teamwork abilities and skills.
I am a very good student and a soccer player as well with an unweighted GPA of 4.0 (weighted GPA of 4.0526) and ranked 1st of 400 in my class. I am currently taking AP courses in high school and enrolled in the Pre-Engineering program. I work real hard in the classroom and on the field to get better. I believe I have a set of skills and abilities that will contribute to a team's success. My goal is to attend college to study Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and play soccer at the highest level.
