Matthew Banks '24 Recruiting Profile

Brazilian-American with International Playing/Training Experience. My goal is to play at the highest level for the best team and to enjoy the beautiful game while doing it. I know the value added I can bring will enhance the overall performance such as an excellent work rate, positive attitude, high soccer IQ, a winners mindset, desire to be the best on/off the pitch, and the ability to contribute to the team when it comes to winning games.  Some of my attributes are being able to provide excellent chemistry, technical ability on and off the ball, dribbling, and close to medium range shooting. What makes me different is my discipline when it comes to knowing what I should and should not do in terms of personal conduct, in game decision making, and off the field decision making. I have lots of experience playing internationally, including the Donosti Cup in Spain as well as playing for Boca Juniors in Brazil and being invited to a week-long trial at Flamengo. For the last 4 years I have been playing for the highest level of soccer in the United States, the Elite Clubs National League. This last season I was the highest goal scorer on my High School team with 13 goals in 9 games and finished strong with my ECNL team during college showcases with 2 goals in 2 games.  I just earned a roster position with the Virginia Olympic Development Team (State).
