Mason Hatch SWMO ...I began swimming my sophomore year in high school after deciding to stop playing football. That first season was hard. I had never swam more than in our back yard pool before. What a change. Despite being new to the sport, I missed making the state team roster by a few tenths of a second. That was it for me, I was hooked and I made it a goal to go to state. My junior year, I made the state roster on all the relay teams. Still not enough, I wanted an individual state cut. I took a year off of my other sport, baseball, to focus on my swimming. I worked out on my own 5 or 6 days a week. I worked out in addition to swimming in the morning and evenings during the school season and it paid off. I made cuts in the 50 & 100 Free and all the relay teams again. I was a team Captain my senior season as well. My drive help me to be the 6th fasted 50 free swimmer in Missouri at the 2016 State Championship Meet. I received All-State honors for the 50 Free and All State Runner-up Honors for our 200 Free Relay teams 14th place finish. I was also 19th overall in the 100 Free. Since swimming I have not only pushed myself, with the aid of my coaches to improve allowing me to be the 18th ranked swimmer in Missouri, I have done the same in the class room with the help of my teachers. I have no doubt that I will do the same in college. I am looking for a college that will fit me academically and allow me to excel athletically.
