Personal Statement
My name is Mason Jordan. I am a 17 year old Senior attending Xavier High School, located in Middletown, CT. I grew up playing soccer at the travel, premier, high school (varsity), and academy level through my Sophomore year, while living in Southington, CT. I fell in love with the sport of running during my first indoor track season at Southington High School. When I first started, I loved the constant training and overall strain on the body, and discovered that I have no limits. In my first year of running I progressed from a 5:30 mile in December 2019 to a 4:49 mile in November 2020. My family relocated to Cheshire, CT in 2020 and I was accepted to attend Xavier, a private high school in Middletown, CT with a long history of excellence in XC. I increased my mileage and the intensity of my workouts, and made the Varsity XC team at in my first season at Xavier in Fall of 2020. In Spring of 2021 I was proud to place 2nd with my Xavier 4 x 800m teammates at our SCC Outdoor TF Championships. We had a successful 2021 XC season, winning our state Class L championship, runner up in the State Open Championship, and placing 7th at teh Nike Cross Northeast regional Championship. My team at Xavier are the closest group of friends I have ever had, and that’s what I love about this sport. Stepping onto the line knowing that your best friends are by your side, people who have chosen to train hours on end with you everyday to better each other - that’s teamwork, that's what I embrace. I can’t wait to develop alongside my new teammates for my final year at Xavier, and further my development at a highly competitive college!
