I started running track in 3rd grade for fun, and continued every year. I was always the fastest kid, including the sports I played outside of school (hockey, soccer). It wasn't until after my grade 9 year of track in high school (a 5th place finish at OFSAA in 300m hurdles) that I decided to start training for track.
I would love to have the opportunity to run at a high level of competition in college. I have just finished my first full year of training for track and I am pleased with my results. I have recently started training for decathlon. In school I do work hard and keep a high GPA, because of course track won't last forever and I need a degree to get a good job when I am finished college. I have always worked hard at school and sports. I was junior and senior athlete of the year in grade school as well as class valedictorian at my grade 8 graduation. Outside of school I coach hockey and soccer and I also love to write
I currently attend a program at Welland Centennial Secondary School for french immersion. I have been in the program since grade 5. I can speak french as well as write and read in french. I love science and would hope to have a career in sports science.
I want to find the school that is right for me. I want to be challenged with track as well as my academics. I have been training hard and working hard with my academics to be the best all round student I can be. I have high expectations for myself that I intend on fulfilling. I want to become a person that people will look up to. A quote I came up with and try to live by is ""life isn't what you get or take, it's what you leave behind when you don't awake.""
