2024 Highlights My name is Sam Simpson, and I’m a Grade 12 student at Royal St. George’s College in Toronto. I’m a middle-distance runner focused on the 800m, 1500m, and 3000m events. Although I’m relatively new to competitive running, I’ve developed a deep passion for the sport and a relentless drive to improve every time I step on the track.
Since the fall, I’ve had the privilege of training with the University of Toronto Track Club, where I’ve been pushed by talented teammates and excellent coaching. This experience has accelerated my growth as a runner and deepened my commitment to the sport. My current personal bests are 1:59.10 in the 800m, 4:10.45 in the 1500m, and 9:05.34 in the 3000m and 19:25.56 in the 6km (XC). I’m determined to continue pushing myself this summer and fall to lower these times and become the best athlete I can be.
Beyond the track, I take pride in maintaining a well-rounded and driven approach to life. I’m an honors student, an active volunteer, and was recently elected as athletic prefect for my final year of high school—an opportunity I value as a chance to lead and give back to my school community.
Looking ahead, I’m excited about the journey to college—both as a student and an athlete. I’m eager to contribute to a collegiate team, continue chasing new personal bests, and take on the challenges and opportunities that come with the next chapter of my life. I may be new to the sport, but my commitment is deep, my work ethic is strong, and I’m just getting started.
