I am the youngest of 2 children by 7 years, I also grew up in a neighborhood where most of the local boys were at least 2 years older than me. I believe both of these factors helped in pushing me harder to try and keep up with them and helped make me more competitive. My parents got me involved in Taekwondo at the age of 5 and after achieving my second black belt at 10 years old I began to turn my focus more towards team sports.
I consider myself to be a multi-sport athlete with most of my focus being on both football and track & field. I started playing football at the age of 8 in a local competitive football league. I was twice selected as a Katy All American all-star player during my 4 years of playing. Due to me always being quite naturally fast I was primarily played as a running back although I have also played as a receiver and in the safety and corner back positions. In Junior High School I again played both sides of the ball; as running back on offence and a free safety on defense. During 7th grade I scored 5 touch downs in 7 games and our record was 6-1. In my 8th grade season I unfortunately broke my wrist during pre-season practice and had to sit out the first 2 games. Fortunately I was able to return for the remaining 5 games and score 7 touchdowns; we went on to finish the season 6-1-0 to win the championship. I have also played 7 on 7 football for 4 years and won 2 championships.
During Junior High School I also tried my hand at track and field and ended up competing in 5 events during each of my 7th and 8th grade years. I participated in track for the 800M, 400M and 4x400M. I also competed in the triple jump, high jump and long jump field events. My passion for running has grown in recent years and I have joined a private club where I am working on my running technique, speed and strength.
I have wanted to compete at a high level ever since I was in 3rd grade. I want to test myself against the best athletes and strive to become the best athlete that I can be. I love the feeling of scoring a touchdown or winning a race and the pride that it gives my parents. I believe with my hunger, together with their support and the gifts that god has given me that I’ve been provided with the best foundations for success. I am excited about the future and what High School and beyond holds for me.
