Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Brenna Flannery, I am a pitcher and outfielder from Anchorage, Alaska, apart of the graduating class of 2022. I have been playing sports all my life and have set my goals to playing softball in college. I was introduced to the sport when I was 5 year old playing t-ball. Once I was in my final year as a minor I knew I wanted to pursue softball competitively and that's where my journey began. So far, I have been playing comp softball for 6 years and I am super committed to becoming the best player I can be. Although I am unable to play right now due to an ACL reconstruction I have been weight lifting, swimming, and doing PT to come back at my best when I am able to do so. My dedication whilst recovering from an injury shows how committed, and hard working I am. I am also a great teammate and strive to treat everyone with respect.
Ever since I was super young my parents have had me involved in some sort of sport including gymnastics which I did competitively until my freshman year of high school. My years in gymnastics, practicing 5 days a week, 4 hours each day, made me mentally and physically tough and taught me consistency, patience, and respect. Without gymnastics I don't think I would be the athlete I am today. It made me crave staying busy. Since moving on from gymnastics I filled that time with cross country running, track and field, weight lifting, ski racing and softball. Once I graduate onto college I know I will be able to take on the early morning work outs, practice load, and school work.
