Personal Statement
My name is Kaya Johnson and I graduate in 2022 from Thomaston High School in Thomaston, Connecticut. As a student athlete, I have always strived to do my best in the classroom and on the field. In the classroom, I have been able to maintain a 4.1/4 GPA through my freshman and beginning of sophomore year and I am a member of many clubs and organizations. I have learned to productively manage my time to be the best that I can in every aspect of my life. From an academic standpoint, I have high goals for my future and I want to attend a college where I can further my education while also competing in the sport I love.
Athletically, I am a three sport athlete for my high school and I play travel softball for the CT Titans 18U Green. I have been playing travel softball for 5 years now and 4 out of the 5 years I have played above my age level. Throughout my softball career I have learned that hard work pays off and to put all of my effort into everything that I do. I am a dedicated athlete and I love being a part of a team. I have always been a team player and a strong competitor. I have a desire to win and have high standards that I push myself to achieve. As a third baseman I have quick reflexes and a strong arm. I love the thrill that comes with playing in the hot corner and one of my strengths is my ability to think on my feet. I believe I have good reaction time and I make my best effort to get to every ball and make the play. Each practice and game I challenge myself to try new things and push my limits. In doing this I have made plays throughout my career that I never would’ve thought I could. I want to continue to strive to be a better athlete, continue making plays, and reaching lofty goals that I have set for myself. I am looking forward to where my softball career takes me and can’t wait to be a part of a college softball program where I can progress while playing the sport I love.
