Katherine Cognevich '15 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my names Katherine, but I go by Kat. I love softball and it has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I have learned so much about this sport and my love for it grows more and more each year. I have always dreamed of stepping onto a college softball field and giving it my all. This sport has taught me how to be mentally and physically tough. For summer ball, we would play 6 games in a row a lot of times and i'd be dripping in sweat, but i'd still be giving 110%. I play with passion, intensity, and drive. I never give up on a ball or slack off. In the weight room I never skip reps and I take advantage of the time I have to get stronger. I am a very consistent player on defense and offense. I have only hit one homerun so far, but I constantly hit base hits. On defense, I hustle to every ball and try my hardest to make the best play I can. My coaches tell me that I make hard plays look easy and routine plays even easier. If i do make a mistake, I give my self 10 seconds to be mad about it then I flush it and move on to the next play. Under pressure, I come alive and want to be the person to come through. If adversity comes at me, I tackle it and move on. I am very coachable and a very hard worker. I listen to constructive criticism from my team mates and coaches. I hope to see myself playing next to some great girls and having the time of my life. Hard work pays off, and I hope I can make my dream of playing college softball come true.
