Emily Tjaden '20 Recruiting Profile

My main collegiate goals are to get a degree in something that helps people.  At this point I am thinking of either nursing or something in the mental health field. I would like to be able to finish in 4 years while playing softball.  I also have a passion for art, so I would like to be able to take art classes as well. As a player, my goal would be to eventually be a starter and lead a team into a successful season.  I have been a leader on my team since starting varsity as a pitcher in 8th grade.  I also play first base and have played many positions on my travel team.  I have a pretty good bat, so I would love to play in any position that would be needed to help my team out.  I am a positive person and believe that a successful team focuses on their strengths and works on improving their weaknesses. As an artist I focus on the details to achieve my end goal.  By doing this, I find that I am very adaptable in situations and can quickly make changes when coaches suggest them. I am also an all around player who can not only pitch, but can play multiple positions.
