Personal Statement

I grew up as a Navy kid, moving all over the states every three to four years. Moving has made a major impact on my life, because of all the different things I've seen in each location, and the huge variety of new people I've met. It has taught me to adapt to new environments, and to find my fit in each one.

When my dad retired, we settled in Nebraska. That was where I discovered my love for softball. The first team I played on was like a little family and they were in need of a pitcher. I decided to volunteer and attempted to teach myself how to pitch. Ten YouTube videos and 23 walked runs later, I decided to seek out some instruction. I've been working with a pitching coach ever since.

My talent kept growing along with my love for the game. Playing softball has taught me the importance of teamwork, leadership, and commitment. As I entered my sophomore year of high school, there was a great potential for conflict between the senior pitch and I. I refused to let that happen and chose to show her I'd rather be her teammate than her competition. We quickly became good friends and went to lead our team to one of their most successful seasons.

As important as athletics are to me, school is equally important. A good education is something that can't be taken away. I'm looking for a school with a great medical program. My goal is to finish high school with a 4.0, get an undergraduate degree, then get into a medical program to continue my education. Whether I'm in the classroom or on the field, I will always give 100%.
