Sonia Klein '23 Recruiting Profile

3/3/2019 - One of my biggest goals is to play college softball and maintain good grades and relationships. I love to cheer for my teammates, and watching them succeed in practice makes me want to be better as well. One of my favorite things about softball is when teams build off of their own energy, and when everyone is cheering and encouraging those around them. I love to be a leader, and carry positive energy with me in my play and when I'm off the field. Something that makes me stand out from others is how compassionate and empathetic I am, as well as my work ethic. I'm always asking, "Can I have one more ball?",  or, "Can I end on a good one?" I will also play anywhere I am needed (besides pitcher and catcher), and try my hardest to do well there. I am high energy, which is another thing that sets me apart from others, and I'll try to make friends with anyone and everyone. I love to laugh and have a good time, but I take softball very seriously. One of my favorite things to do is workout, and my muscle and athleticism makes me push harder than others.

In school, I enjoy lessons and contribute in discussions, which also makes me aim for high grades. I am uncertain about what I want to focus on in college, but I do know that I want to help people. I love to read, write, and do gymnastics when I'm not doing softball, and all of these things shape me into a better person. No matter what team I'm on,  I will always work hard and push myself to reach my potential.

03/17/2019 - College PREP - Chestnut Ridge (NYC), NY Sonia is a 2023 right handed second baseman with a strong skill set. Defensively, she has active feet and range to both sides. She is quick in her exchange with the ball and short in her action to the ball. She makes accurate throws to her target and creates solid momentum through each play. Offensively, she is athletic in her set up and on time in her stride to the ball. She loads back well in her lower half and stays smooth through the zone. She is explosive with her barrel and makes hard contact consistently. Overall, Sonia hustles hard and adjusts well when needed. She will do what it takes to play at the next level.
