Personal Statement
Sadly, in 4th grade, I didn’t make the travel soccer team with my best friend, but this led me to an even better sport, softball. A few months later, I tried out for the local travel softball team and made it! I played on this team for the rest of my middle school career and was coached by some of the best people on earth. Through their instruction and dedication, my love for softball grew. When I aged out of the program, I knew I wanted my softball career to continue. Leaving my beloved 14U family behind, was one of the saddest moments in my life. Using the skills I learned, I quickly earned a spot on a club softball team. At the same time, I was heading into my freshman year of high school. I didn't want to leave middle school. Just like my 14U team, I had so many great memories there, and it was a safe place for me to challenge myself. But like my new club team, high school has become like a home, full of new family and friends. Softball has taught me to accept challenges, to grow, to let go of the negative, to look for the positive, and to appreciate the hard work. As I said to my high school softball coach at the end of last season, “Working together as a team, to make the great play, the big catch, the huge hit, that’s what softball is about. ”
Fun fact, one day in gym class I ran into a door frame and split my knee open to the bone. I need 11 stitches. I did not damage my knee at all just need the stitches. It's my secret talent that I choose never to use again.
