I am Deanna Raffaelli, a rising Senior attending Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie, New York, graduating in the year 2022. In my freshman year, I was the only freshman to be named to the varsity softball team where I was a starter at third base, first base, and the outfield. On my travel team, Honeychucks NE, I am the starting second baseman and utility player. Since the two teams utilize me differently, I can play almost any position. Offensively, I am a smart, aggressive power hitter with smart base running skills. I typically bat third or fourth and thrive in pressure situations. I work hard at applying the instruction my coaches give me.
I serve my community through the Civil Air Patrol – Air Force Auxiliary where I am a Cadet Senior Master Sergeant and a member of the Color Guard. Civil Air Patrol is helping me expand my leadership skills, to learn discipline, to learn respect and honor, develop time management, learn adaptability helps my personal growth, builds confidence, and most of all, helps solidify my values. I also serve my community through the Environmental Club organized by my school.
I apply these values to my personal life, my academic life, and my athletic life which helps me build positive workspaces. Because of this, the strong relationships I have built with my family, fellow students, fellow Cadets and my teammates keep me grounded and focused. My teammates and I are exceptional friends and am proud to be called their teammate. We work well together on and off the field. We experience, together, the euphoria’s and heartbreak that softball serves us.
Except for my family, scholastic achievement is my top priority. I am a driven and highly motivated student who truly works hard to be the best I can be. I pride myself in my grades and deans-list standing. I am currently enrolled in all honors/advanced or college courses, am a New York State Scholar-Athlete Award recipient and have been nominated to the National Academy of Future Physicians.
I am searching for the school which will help me continue to grow personally, scholastically, athletically, and to serve my community.
