Personal Statement
My Name is Emily Dority and I am a 5'10" pitcher and 3rd baseman. I have had the amazing opportunity to play softball over the past 10 years. My dad introduced me to the sport at a young age and it has become my passion. Softball has allowed me to grow into a strong leader both on and off the field. Through years of hard work and dedication, I have been able to turn that passion into many successes as a player on the field. Recently, I completed my freshman season on my high school softball team where I was awarded with Varsity Rookie of the Year. I am looking forward to continuing to make an impact on my high school team. When you play an aggressive travel team schedule over many years, you learn a lot about yourself. You learn to play in all kinds of weather conditions and long hours. I have learned that I can do hard things while continuing to show a good attitude and lead my team. I am often called in as relief on the mound because I have learned to overcome my fears and play under pressure. While I am a leader to my family and friends, I am compassionate to their individual needs and have the ability to lift up those around me.
After my freshman year in high school, I am proud to carry a 3.95 GPA which required a lot of late nights and sacrifice to maintain during high school season and daily multiple hour practices. My goal in high school is to continue to be a high achieving student athlete. Ultimately, I see myself working carrying the same passion in college for high athletic achievement and academic excellence. I plan to study psychology, and would ultimately like to work in the area of sports psychology. I am confident that I will be able to make a positive impact to your team as a leader and team player.
