Personal Statement
Hi I’m Anna Borst, I was born in 2006 and will be graduating in 2024. I come from a family of collegiate athletes, my brother recently graduated from Virginia Tech, where he was a starting wrestling. My goals in collegiate sports is to play for a competitive team and go to a college that I love. I want to go and play for a team where I feel my teammates have the same goals and aspirations I do, leave everything on the field and to be the best player you can be.
I’ve always been a team leader, I’m a big hype man in the dugout; if my team is winning or losing, you know that I will be cheering the pitchers and batters on. I also use the opportunity softball has given me to give back to the community, I’ve done several fundraising and community service events with my softball teams.
Growing up I played all sports, softball, volleyball, soccer, basketball, gymnastics, and wrestling. But, there was one that I fell in love with and knew was for me, softball. Coming from a football and wrestling family, my parents didn’t really know what to do with my new found love of softball. They decided to have me try out for a travel team in 10u. While I was starting my softball career, my brother was starting his collegiate wrestling career at Virginia Tech . Seeing my brother go through the recruitment process, open my eyes to the world of collegiate athletics. From a young age I knew that I wanted to play in college, I do come from a family of collegiate athletes. My grandfather played lacrosse for Holy Cross University, my uncle played football for Bowden University, my aunt played for San Diego University soccer, and my uncle played football at John Hopkins. In my family playing sports in college is more of an expectation than anything else.
