Personal Statement

My name is Amelia Knaysi and I have fallen in love with the sport of lacrosse.  My father first asked me when I was in fourth grade if I wanted to play lacrosse.  I responded by asking, "What's that?"  However, despite my ignorance of the sport, I decided to join a team.  The first time I picked up a lacrosse stick, I fell in love.

I have been playing lacrosse for seven years and I am hoping I can continue to play for many more.   I run cross country and play basketball, but neither sport excites me like lacrosse.  I enjoy the adrenaline rush when I receive a pass and run down the field.  It is so thrilling to be able to make a tight pass through defenders and get an assist.  Many players avoid the midfield position due to the excessive running and having play both offense and defense.  However,  I love the challenge of running constantly, playing the entirety of the field and always being in the center of the action.  Everyone loves making goals and I am no exception.  But my true passion for the sport stems from being a part of a team.

It may sound strange, but I really enjoy the long bus rides.  I am from rural Colorado, meaning every away game is at least two hours away.  Jamming to music, chatting with friends,  and almost running over mountain goats are some of my fondest team memories.

Along with being succesful in the classroom, I would like to continue to excel on the field.  I am hoping to write stories in the horror genre, so I am interested in colleges with strong creative writing programs.

I hope to play for a collegiate team so that I can continue to partake in something that gives me joy.

I have additional game video on my youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC7O0ZqCrBSWnnHBVBe8wMw
