My name is Ashley Poquette, and I want to continue my dedication to lacrosse at the collegiate level. In the fall I’ll be a junior at Downers Grove North HS located in Downers Grove, IL, the #12 ranked lacrosse program in the state. I have played lacrosse, soccer, basketball and hockey since fourth grade, but more recently decided to pursue lacrosse at a high level. I’ve started every varsity game as midfielder and specialize in the draw. I’m currently ranked #1 in the state and #10 nationally for draw percentage. I lead my high school team in goals, ground balls, caused turnoffs and draws and second in assists. All-Conference Team, All-Sectional Team and All-State 2nd Team, and team MVP were my accolades of the sophomore season. I also play for a club team known as Team One and am excited to see what this season will bring. I love lacrosse because it combines skill, finesse and strategy in a way that makes it a super fun and impressive sport.
My work ethic and competitive attitude extends to the classroom as well. I have a 4.2/5.0 GPA, and made the Honor Roll both freshman and sophomore year while playing violin with the symphonic orchestra. Aside from lacrosse, I am interested in studying engineering in college, specifically chemical engineering. The work that I complete in the classroom translates to the work effort that I put in on the lacrosse field. When I step on the field, I understand that although I am continually working to improve myself, I am also performing with my team. I try to push my teammates to their fullest potential, while they also lift me up to be the best version of a player I can be.
