Jemma Thomson '24 Recruiting Profile

I am ambitious and set high expectations for myself in both my sport and my academic studies. My passion is playing sport. My motivation is to be the best I can be, I actively seek and apply feedback.

I enjoy being in a team environment, winning together, losing together, and learning together; I am also comfortable working independently, my personal training is a place where I focus on improving my own athletic abilities, practice skills and different plays to become a more accomplished, successful athlete.

I have a positive, growth mindset and understand the importance resilience plays in being a complete athlete. On the pitch, speed and strength are my key attributes.

I have been playing lacrosse for 5 years since I started at Berkhamsted Girls School aged 11. I was invited to join the England Talent Pathway program aged 12. I am currently in Year 11 (equivalent of sophomore year) and play in Berkhamsted 1st X. We are 2022 National Schools Championship Finalists. I was selected for the England National Lacrosse Academy in January 2022. I made my England National U20 debut in April 2022, where I played in the England team that won the 2022 Home International Championships. I also played in the U20 England winning team against the Italian Senior Ladies World Cup team in April 2022. I can play all positions, for my National Team I play both mid and defence.

I am a multi-sport athlete. I have competed in track competitions since the age of 9 at both Regional and National level. I was a finalist in the U13 60m National Indoor Championships in 2018, 3rd in the 2019 U15 National Schools 200m Championship, and currently I am Hertfordshire County U17 200m Champion, I hold the school record for 100m (12.2s) and 200m (26.0s). I also play Netball, I was part of the Berkhamsted School team that won the U14 National Schools Netball Championships in 2020.

My biggest motivations are to play the highest level of lacrosse I can, playing with and competing against the best, combined with continuing to excel and progress with my academic studies. I am very excited at the opportunity of playing college lacrosse in the US.
