I have been playing lacrosse for eight years. I am a defensive player on my high school varsity team, and I am very passionate about this sport. In 2014, my freshman year, the high school did not have a lacrosse program. I, along with other previous teammates, attended the Board of Education meetings to express our interest and need for the program. In the spring of 2014, the first lacrosse game was played at the high school level. My junior year, we played our first varsity level game. Although I will not have four years at the varsity level, I will have the excitement and learning experience of playing all four years of high school.
I am a hardworking student and athlete. I currently maintain a 3.08 GPA. Good grades are important me as I work toward my career in lacrosse and physical education. In addition to being a part of the lacrosse team, I was a member of the Spanish Club and the Interact Club. I play varsity Soccer and Basketball, and I swim in the summer for a league in Pennsylvania.
On Saturday afternoons, my team members and I work with a group called, Saddle Brook Angels. This group allows for special needs children to partake in a safe, noncompetitive organized group sports. I assist in teaching these children how to hold a lacrosse stick, kick a soccer ball, and shoot a basketball. Giving back is most rewarding. The excitement in the children’s eyes, and the smiles on their faces are truly priceless!
My goal is to play lacrosse in college while I study physical education. I am looking forward to the excitement and challenges of the next four years.
