I strongly believe that taking part in rowing at a collegiate level will be a natural step in my development as a rower with high ambitions. I very much cherish the opportunity to row and connect with different people, experience contrasting training and racing environments, learn new things and share my own experiences with other likeminded people.
As a J16, I have rowed in the J16 1st 8+, representing LEHBC at several regional and national competitions- 4th at School's Head of the River Race, 2nd at National School's Regatta. In the J16 1st 4+, I also came away with several victories and placings at regatta races in this summer season and was then selected to race in the top senior boat of LEH at Henley Women's Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta (WJ8+). This opportunity to row alongside those older than me allowed me to mature in my approach to training and helped me pick up tips and tricks which I will then be able to pass on to whom I row beside next year. I was able to I expose myself to the high standards of rowing produced by some of the top universities from America and witness first-hand some very exciting racing and pictured myself in that position in a few years time.
In June, I was selected to represent GB in the annual J16 GB v France match in the 4-. After training in an 8+ for the majority ion the year, I quickly adapted to the new boat type and took on the role of the steerer. This grew my confidence in steering and allowed me to earn my first international vest (the first of many I hope!)
I also hold a Concept 2 British record on the ski erg (and ex world record holder!) for the girls 15-16year old 100m sprint. I Hope to win back my title very soon!
My personal rowing ambition for the next season is to drop my 2k erg time, which, with the increased training is certain to lower significantly. I endeavour to attend the 2023 Early ID U19 trials, hopefully qualify and represent GB again at the U19 World Championships, or Coupe de la Jeunesse 2024 and 2025
