I am an extremely hardworking and dedicated student-athlete. I have only been rowing for 1 year, but in that time, I have fallen in love with the sport. I would like to continue to row in university because not only do I want to push myself physically, but also because I know that rowing will provide me with the kind of environment that I like to be surrounded by. When I row, I know I am surrounded by people who are giving their 100%, wanting to win, and wanting to better themselves. I believe this is integral to developing as an individual.
My goals in rowing are very specific and very general. I would like to constantly be improving and changing, something I know I can achieve through great focus and passion. I would also like to make national teams in the future.
I have many characteristics that I believe set me apart from others. I have a great yearning to strive for perfection, and I constantly want to better myself. I love to have fun, but when it comes down to it, I want to win. As for athletics, I have a very good awareness of my body. I participated in synchronized swimming for many years, a sport in which corrections are constantly fed to athletes. I learned to become aware of most of my muscles and how to distinguish what to do to make things change. I believe this greatly attributes to my coachability. I also think synchronized swimming helped with my conditioning level, completing many laps underwater and minutes upside down. Furthermore, I was able to develop creative skills and understand the tight knit workings of a very intricate and reliable team.
