My name is Samantha Barr,
I am a senior at Charles J. Colgan Senior High School in Virginia. I am in search of a challenging university and rowing team that can help me achieve my goals. I am the kindest most hard-working person you are going to find. I love math and science and I find myself being very efficient under pressure and a rigorous schedule. To be honest, rowing was not even on my radar. I had to audition for singing to be able to attend the high school I currently go to. During my audition, an upperclassman recruited me to join the crew team and I decided to try something new. I had recently achieved a Black Belt Degree in Taekwondo and decided; well, let's give it a try!!! What a shock was to find myself completely enamored with the sport on so many levels. It resembled some of the Taekwondo pillars that I had already come to respect and admire. Three of these pillars are perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit. Well... rowing sure test your limits to the edge and also the ability to improve for your team and for yourself. This is my third year rowing for high school. I’ve typically rowed as a stroke and this past year I rowed for our 2V boat. I love sports and before I began rowing I participated in swim and soccer. I sing for my school choir and play piano. Love intricate and time-consuming projects. I’m a very dedicated student with a current GPA of 4.269. Please contact me if you have any questions about my progress...really looking forward to hear from you coaches.
