My name is Ashton Conkling, I was born and raised in Australia for 14 years. My family and I moved from Australia to Oklahoma three years ago to be closer to my dad’s family and so that I could attend high school in the US as my dream has been to play soccer at a collegiate level ever since I can remember.
When l lived in Australia, l was a part of the National Training Center, which is run by the governing body, Football Australia. The program is the pathway for national team selection. I participated in a couple of training camps with the Junior Matilda's coaching staff in preparation for international soccer events.
My time in Oklahoma has been amazing as it has introduced and allowed me to develop certain skills which are not as prominent in Australia. Physicality and speed of play are key attributes, which l have quickly developed while playing within the Texas League.
I am a strong, technical player who is versatile to play anywhere in the backline (CDM, outside back, and center back). My club coaches move me between CDM and outside back, while my high school coach played me in CB for my Sophomore year but then moved me to CDM for my Junior Year. I am a very quick defender with great anticipation and vision that allows me to utilize my technical ability and strength to support the team.
