My name is Kate Callender and I am a junior at St. Mary’s Academy in Englewood, CO. I have played various competitive sports including soccer, basketball, tennis, cross country, and swimming. Swimming is by far my favorite.
My high school team won the 2024 state championship, which was a huge swimming highlight forme. I placed 4th in the state in the 500 Free and 5th in the 200 Free. I was part of the winning 200 Free Relay (24.82 as the anchor) and the winning 400 Free Relay (54.55), which broke the 3A Colorado state record with a time of 3:34.04. I love being a part of a team and look forward to swimming in college.
I swim six days a week with Swim Dogs Swim Club in Denver, and I recently added weight training with a personal trainer twice a week. I am already seeing great improvement, and I anticipate more breakthroughs as the short course season progresses.
Aside from swimming, academics are a significant priority in my life. I plan on pursuing math and science at a college that can allow me to grow both academically and athletically. I’ve kept a 4.0 grade point average throughout my first three years of high school and have taken multiple AP classes.
