Sydney Wells '16 Recruiting Profile

I have been swimming since I was 9 years old. I began with summer swim, and by the time I was 12 began swimming year round. I fell in love with the sport immediately. Swimming has taught me self discipline and the value of hard work and commitment.

My goal is to swim division 1 or 2 in college and to continue to improve and get faster and stronger throughout college. I would like to swim on a team where I am not the fastest swimmer so that I will be pushed to continue improving. I am a hard worker and really love swimming. My coach's philosophy is to train us in such a way as to leave room for improvement in college, so I am very excited to see how much better I can get at the college level.

I am dedicated to working hard and doing my best in the pool and in the classroom. I have maintained a 3.5 GPA in high school while swimming 15 - 20 hours per week, working part-time as a nanny, and starting my own painting business. I have always been very close to my teammates and enjoy cheering for them and encouraging them. Swimming has given me an interest in nutrition and fitness and I desire to pursue a career in sports medicine or exercise science.
