For me, swimming is about more than just speed. It is an event around which I both developed leadership skills and achieved personal results. Selected as a senior representative of my regional club, I look forward to topping my junior year which culminated in me leading my team of 26 swimmers from New Jersey to the 2022 Greater Tampa Swimming Association TYR Championship Meet. At that meet I made it to the finals in all 8 of my events. In college, I plan to continue to develop as both a leader and an athlete.
Outside of competitive swimming I use my experience to benefit those around me. The summer of 2022 will be my third summer as a lifeguard. Last year, within a short drive from my beach, two ocean guards died while working. Their passing reinforced to me the danger of the role and the importance of knowing how to swim. So this year I volunteered to teach young kids how to swim at my local YMCA.
My focus on leadership and results is not limited to the pool. At school I am an active member of the National Honor Society, student council, and several other school clubs. I am seeking a college that will provide me with opportunities to lead, learn, and swim.
