I began playing Tennis competitively during my Freshman year in High School after getting diagnosed with Osgood-Schlatter Disease which ended my Cross Country career prematurely. Receiving that news was hard to handle but tennis was a sport that rapidly began to be my passion and I fell in love with it. My doctor had told me that a sport like tennis wouldn’t affect me like cross country did and I’m so glad it didn’t. When season had come around again, I had tried out and I got to be number 3 singles. Sophomore year was my first year of being a singles player and I was so excited about the new challengers that I would be facing. As number three singles I managed to get 3rd place at a tournament my school went to as well as placing in 5th place at regionals, overall I ended up having a 9-2 record after the season had ended. Tennis is a sport that I have a passion towards and I would love to expand that passion to different horizons as I continue to improve my game. The sport is somewhere where I can fully express who I am and it’s something that is therapeutic to me which helps me feel like I have an even balance between school and as well as doing something that I love. As the 2019-2020 season has started, I am number 1 singles and I’m looking forward to growing as a tennis player now and in the future.
Since college is coming up very rapidly, I have decided that I want to major in the science field since I want to pursue becoming an orthodontist in the future. With preparing for college, I have been focused on taking science classes every year and my senior year, I plan to take AP Environmental Science or AP chemistry. Throughout my years of high school, I have been challenging myself academically with taking AP classes as well as honors classes at my school. At my school I only need to take two years of a world language class, but I want to be able to speak a language fluently so I have taken Spanish one and two and as a junior this year I am taking my third year of Spanish which takes me one more step closer on becoming a fluent Spanish speaker! Along with challenging myself academically I also am involved in clubs at my school which are: Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), National Honors Society (NHS), Interact, and UNICEF. Through interact with the NHS, I have been able to have the wonderful opportunity to volunteer and be a part of so many great things. I have had so many great experiences with volunteering but the two programs that I have been involved with that have truly been a life changer would be The Salvation Army and Jiminy Wicket. Every year I ring the bell to collect donations for The Salvation Army, this may not seem like much but it means a lot to me because I have gotten the great pleasure able to raise money for those who don’t have it. Jiminy Wicket is a program that’s new at my school through the clubs NHS and interact and it is a program that consists of playing cricket with elderly that have Alzheimer's disease. That program has really enriched my passion for volunteering and being involved with as many things as I can so that I can be a contributor in making a difference.
