Since the first time my dad took me to the local courts and placed a racquet in my hand over ten years ago, my love of playing tennis has been constant and enduring. My time on the court has shaped my identity and positive outlook on life. Playing tennis has made me determined, resilient and self-reliant. It has taught me that success - whether it's on the courts or in in the classroom -- means being willing to put in hard work, move forward even when facing setbacks, and to stay motivated through the very last point. As college planning has evolved, I have put a lot of thought into what areas of study I want to pursue and which types of degree programs will enable me to achieve my goals. However, when I envision this next chapter of my life, my ideal college experience always includes me playing college tennis and sharing in the comeraderie that makes being part of a team so meaningful. Competing in tennis matches and tournaments was something I already enjoyed through USTA and UTR tournaments, but high school tennis introduced me to what being on a team was like; supporting each other to be the best team possible and sharing the excitement that comes from helping secure a victory for the team. I want the opportunity to continue to create bonds with my teammates, and I value the sense of accomplishment, opprtunity for growth and personal fulfillment that goes hand in hand with practicing and competing. Win or lose, the mental and physical benefits I gain from playing tennis always boost my peace of mind and well-being. Besides playing tennis, I am a volunteer for my town's junior EMS program and I enjoy indulging my passion for music and the outdoors. I'm looking forward to taking advantage of all that college has to offer, and I hope that along with studying for my dream career and making life-long friends, playing college tennis will be a big part of my experience!
