I'm Aniyah Carter-Wade, a 17-year-old from Richmond,Ca. Volleyball has had my fill focus ever since I came in contact with the sport, there is nothing I love more. It drives me on and off the court. I would rather go on with life knowing that this dream that I have, I can continue to pursue. I also played varsity and club soccer, but changed to volleyball and softball, and found absolute love for it. Coming into the sport late, I recognize that I've had tremendous growth. My determination for volleyball has been strong enough to build me better as an athlete, mentally and physically. My goal is to shock as many coaches with my ability and my persistence in the years to come. As an athlete, my most important focus is to love the game that I play. It isn't just a sport to me. I've gained so many close bonds, learned communication skills, and most importantly learned that significant wins comes with losses.
Being on the court, gives me such a rush, a sense of purpose and belonging that I never knew one could feel in a sport. Much of my growth has been through my mistakes. With being consistent, I've been able to understand the strategies and effective parts of open communication. I really take into account the moments shared between my coaches, mentors, and teammates. Being a MB/MH comes with much responsibility on the court. Making plays and contributing to kills allows me to be a different person on the court. more aggressive and strategic. I also love seeing my teammates excel in the sport they also love. Cheering them on and contributing to their growth has made me so proud to be on a team full of determined and extraordinary girls who cheer one another on, no matter the struggles we as a team face.
What's in store for me is God's plan. However, in the meantime, I am determined to keep being persistent and adamant on my dream.
