I have always grown up in the dance studio, practicing 3-6 hours a day for complete perfection. I thought Irish dancing was going to be my life and the path I take. Until one day, my parents signed me up for volleyball. I had no idea what volleyball was or how to play it. But once I won my very first game, it hooked me. I have been playing club for the last 5 years and never once have I thought about going back to dance. I enjoy the competitiveness of the club and how much improvement you can make in a small amount of time. Starting at the age 12, I was on the taller side, so they put me as a middle. I enjoyed being the person who could hit the ball as hard as possible and even running somewhat fast plays. I loved the team aspect, and how you have to work together to get the best possible outcome.
Even in the early years, I was always up for a challenge. At 13, I was moved to become an outsider. I enjoyed the pace of the game more, and how I can be a passer as well. From being a middle before, it changed my perspective of the game of volleyball. That everyone has their own difficulties in each position and how you all have to work to be one unit. As time went on, I got switched between middle and outside. But at the age of 15, I transitioned to libero/DS for my high school season. It was a tough transition since for the club I played outside and now only could play backrow. Being a libero, I loved being able to start the pace of the game. I also really enjoy the energy of the game and the excitement it brings me. That year, my team has brought more people together than I could ever imagine. I want to strive to continue that connection and play at the collegiate level like fellow teammates have.
I take my academics seriously and try not only to get good grades, but also to learn and gain data that will continue in my future.. I have a high interest in civil engineering and interior design. I have loved the idea of improving the community by building and expanding in a positive way. I have so much support from coaches, to parents, to teachers and that's why I am here now and I hope I can live my dreams out and play the sport I love for a little bit longer.
