Andrea Hurt '23 Recruiting Profile

Dear Coach,

Thank you for reading my personal statement. I hope to go to college and earn a pre-professional degree. I plan on being a science major while working on a pre-dentistry degree. 

I am very driven to play college volleyball. I have been playing competitively since I was 10 years old (2015) and I absolutely love playing high-level volleyball. Currently I play for A5 South in Fairburn, Ga and recently I was selected to the 2021 USAV-SRVA High Performance Team. I was also a member of the 2020 USA Volleyball High Performance team (GYA1). I am a 2x AVCA Phenom List athlete (2020 and 2021). In 2018 I have earned All-State, All-Region, and All-Stars honors while in high school.

I am strong fundamentally and make accurate passes to the setter. I read my opponents and cover the court well, and can pass, set, or attack from the back row. I am vocal on the court and pride myself on being a good teammate while always working to improve my game. Finally, I know that no player is perfect. When I make a mistake, I am able to put that behind me and continue playing strong. I do not let one mistake become two or three mistakes. I keep calm, stay focused, and play on. My teammates say that I am a calm steady presence and they are confident that I am behind them.

Off the court, I enjoy the outdoors with family, whether that is going to the beach, or kayaking the rivers of North Georgia and Florida. I also enjoy typical things like shopping, movies, music, and time with friends. In the classroom, I am an excellent student with a 4.3 GPA, earning the President's Award for Educational Excellence from the U.S. Department of Education, recognition on the National Honor Society, my school's "principal's list", the National Junior Honor Society, and qualifying for participation in Duke Tip. I have also been a leader (Treasurer) in two organizations (National Junior Honor Society and Student Government Association). 

Volleyball is my passion and I would absolutely love the opportunity to discuss how I can earn a spot on your team.
