Serving as a starting player on my high school varsity team my Freshman year revealed to me how strongly I desire to have a collegiate opportunity in volleyball. My Sophomore year I was named Captain of my High School varsity team, as well as All Tournament MVP for our Illinois Association of Christian Schools State Tournament. I love that I never have an off season because I play club volleyball and play in a sand volleyball league each summer. I consider myself athletic, competitive, determined, coachable, and kind. While I juggle a major role in Student Council, our school's Student Ambassador Program, our regionally competitive musical, and play basketball while consistently maintaining a 3.8 GPA, volleyball is my first priority!
As a player, I love a variety of different coaching styles because I find there is always something new to learn-- I am teachable. My teachers and coaches would commend my character, which is very humbling. Coaches have noted that I am emotionally strong during the game and do not fall apart over a bad play or loss. Losing motivates me to fight harder and encourage my teammates more. I push myself as an individual, however my dedication is to my teammates and coaches.
I am a court girl to my core but playing doubles on a sand league has been a fun and competitive way to improve my endurance for the court. Strength training is also an activity I have a lot of passion and determination for because I have seen how it can improve my game. In college, I plan to pursue a degree in physical therapy so I can encourage athletes with injury setbacks to get back in the game ASAP!
