Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Hannah Vriezen and I’m a senior at Isaac Newton Christian Academy. I am the senior class president and a National Honor Society Member. I have gone to Isaac Newton since kindergarten, and I have absolutely loved it there. I am very passionate about volleyball as well as marine biology. I have played school volleyball since fifth grade, and I have played three years of club. I have played a couple other positions such as middle blocker and outside hitter, but I like right-side hitting the best. As for clubs, I have played with Rapids Spikers for three years. This year I have been asked to play outside hitter which I have enjoyed very much. I am on the 18u black with coaches Allie and Robert McQuiston.
This year, I was very fortunate in receiving many awards and honors. Last year, I was an all conference honorable mention, but this year I was unanimously voted for first team all conference. With this, I finished 2nd for aces in my conference, 3rd for kill efficiency, and 5th for kills.
As for my career, I have loved the ocean since I was very young, and I have always enjoyed going to aquariums. I would love to work at an aquarium someday, so I am planning to major in marine biology in college. However, I also am interested in psychology, so that is what I plan to minor in.
I have already volunteered at the Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium for around three years now, so I am making strides towards my career goal. Along with this, I have done many job shadows at aquariums. I am very passionate about teaching and inspiring others about the ocean, and I cannot wait to see what comes next.
