As I prepare for college, I dream to major in public health and becoming an epidemiologist someday, maybe even earning a doctorate. When I entered high school, I was humbled quickly. I had a goal of a 4.0 and reach a varsity libero status. In my freshman year, I was knocked down to a 3.9 and I played libero for the second half of the season for the freshman team. Academically I knew it would be impossible to stand at the top with a 4.0, but I still knew there was room to grow athletically and academically. My GPA continued to increase throughout my sophomore year and I played libero throughout the entire season. Junior year, I had finally done it. My GPA continues to rise and I was awarded as a varsity libero. Anxious but excited, I played my heart out throughout the season. Unexpectedly, I was stripped from my libero position mid-season. Naturally, I asked my coach “how can I become a libero again?” she responded “consistency”. My passes were too inconsistent. I worked and worked hoping to earn my position back and I could not describe the pain in my chest when I never achieved that jersey back. I remember my last game where I played for two minutes, was taken out, and never put back in. My biggest regret was never asking why. That is what sets me apart, I ask questions. Even freshman year, when I got my first B I never asked how or why. From these experiences, I ask questions more than ever.
