Ginger Johnson '24 Recruiting Profile

I am a winner, and can play multiple positions: I have played OH, DS, L, and as a Setter during high school. I am the 5th ranked player in Ky in my class, according to KyPrep Dig. I am being recruited for college as a Setter, which is a position I have played early in my high school career and every summer for my club team (Lexington United).  I have won 6 All-A regional championship (also been named all-state tourney as a setter) and 2 regional titles (hopefully another one this year , senior year).  I have been named to the Ky All-State team the past 2 seasons and the regional player of the year, last year.  I play for a small high school , but my team's success speaks for itself, we play good competition all around Kentucky.  If you want a setter who has won her whole career in high school, is high character, athletic, loves to play defense and is consumed with volleyball, I am her !

Here is my story :

I fell in love with volleyball as a 7th grader and as an 8th grader confirmed my position as a setter.  My 8th grade year, I became the starting setter on the High School Freshman team and the JV team and backup for Varsity.   My freshmen year I was promoted to Varsity starter and was the setter on our All-A Regional Championship Team.  My sophomore year (2020)  I was again the setter for the All-A regional championship team and the regular 14th region champs; my team finished in the final 4 of the state tournament that year and I was named to the All-Tournament Team;   My junior year, I moved to hitter , and played all 6 rotations, as my team was hit hard with graduation.  I led the team in kills, was second in digs, and finished in the top 20 in the state in kills, being named to the 2nd Team All-State squad at the conclusion of the season.  We won the All-A region again as well.  This year (2022) I am in again a junior (class of 2024), as I took the "Covid Year" allowed by my state association.  I was ranked 5th in the state (overall) in the pre-season for Ky players by PrepDig recruiting service.  I am leading my team in kills, and am again second in assists ; my team just recently won our 6th straight All-A regional tournament and now have our sights set on finishing the season as regular region champs , competing for a state-title with 15 other teams in Ky.   To be continued.....
